Marco Ramaglia is passionate about contemporary and electronic music. Fascinated by new creative approaches to music, Marco is a founding-member of the improvisation trio SUZAKU (cello, dance, piano) and of the ensemble for electronic music Ctrl+X (synthesizers, e-cello, e-violin).
He has been collaborating with important composers of our time (H. Lachenmann, O. Finnendahl, G.Benjamin, N. A. Huber and C.A. Landini ) – an experience that continually challenges and broadens his artistic views. Marco has performed with several renown institutions such as the Schauspiel Frankfurt, Hessischer Rundfunk, Hoschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, Jiaozuo University, China and participated in festivals such as the Cresc... Festival, Gaudeamus Musikwoche, Firenze suona contemporanea, Quantensprünge – ZKM Karlsruhe.
A highlight in his work in pedagogy was his time as a piano teacher at Jiaozuo University,China. He was awarded six scholarships and was a fellow of the Friedrich Naumann Stiftung für die Freiheit, a German foundation promoting human rights and social engagement. In his free time, he loves backpacking and has walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain, the via Francigena in Italy and the Emei Mountains in China.
Marco’s formal studies have been in Frankfurt and Trossingen , as well as Naples and Rome. Further studies were guided from Ueli Wiget and Ensemble Modern, Francesco Pepicelli and Angelika Merkle in chamber Music, by Peter Nelson and Axel Bauni in art songs. He was a member of the IEMA - International Ensemble Modern Academy.
